MICBA – MISSISSAUGA ITALIAN CANADIAN BENVEOLENT ASSOCIATION
ICBA was founded in 1986 and through MICBA other corporations were created – Forum Italia Non-Profit Housing Corporation, MICBA Forum Italia Community Services, Forum Italia Daycare and Villa Forum.
Each corporation has its own identity, its own Board of Directors and is incorporated with the Province of Ontario and totally independent.
MICBA is the umbrella organization that overlooks and helps its sister companies through bingo income, donations and some administration.
Forum Italia Non-Profit Housing Corporation operates a housing complex located at 195 Forum Drive and 155 Forum Drive. The complex is comprised of 133 units for families, single parents and individuals with special needs., both market and subsidized units. The building has one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, also operates the housing portion at 155 Forum Drive.
Our subsidies are funded by the Region of Peel.
MICBA Forum Italia Community Services Offers essential supportive services to seniors 65 and older. They have two programs, Assistive Living Program (ALP) and Supports for Daily Living Program (SDL). The ALP program provides services such as personal care, basic housekeeping, social and recreational programs, in-house transportation services, case coordination, visiting clinician, foot care specialist and mobile hairdresser services to 155 residents who qualify.
The SDL program is based in both building 195 and 155 Forum and the program provides 1.5 hours of care per day, by providing daily, pre-scheduled-in-unit personal support, housekeeping and attendant care services. We are in operation 24/7/365 and our services are delivered by qualified Personal Support Workers (PSW’s) free of charge to clients based on individual assessment.
Our programs are funded and regulated by the Ministry of Health.
Forum Italia Daycare is licensed for 85 full time children with programs for ages 18 months to 5 years. We have professional qualified Registered Early Childhood Educators (RECE) and well-trained teacher assistants.
We operate Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., indoor/outdoor play area, air-conditioned comfort, home cooked freshly prepared nutritious balanced meals, Region of Peel Funding for subsidy clients and conveniently located near schools, parks and public transportation.
Villa Forum is 160 long term care bed facility licenced by the Ministry of Health. We have created an atmosphere that reflects the varied and beautiful regions of Italy. Our unique neighbourhoods within the building, all of which are named after various Regions in Italy, offer private suites, dining room, living room and family rooms to experience a true sense of “home”.
Aside from Nursing and Personal Care, Villa Forum also offers Physiotherapy, Pastoral Care/Palliative Care, Social Work, and Restorative Care.
